Gbobaniyi was written and authored by Oladipo Yemitan. This Yoruba book which has beautiful storyline and celebrates culture was first released into the public in the year 1972. Gbobaniyi is a Yoruba story book which discourage ingrate and greediness. The story started when a fictional character named Bamidele traveled to London for further studies.
This man is insatiable and nothing has ever done that pleased him. When he got back to Nigeria, Adekiigbe helped him secure a job. This is when Bamidele began to show his corrupt behaviours. He was too pretentious and people around him thought he was a good person. This made the king even gave him a chieftaincy position of “Gbobaniyi”. This step was the beginning of the king’s woo. Find out what transpired between Bamidele, his wife, king and other occupants of the village. What lesson can we learn?
